Burundi National Center of the International Puppetry Union
UNIMA Burundi
Puppets in the service of peace, education and the promotion of Burundian cultural heritage

Created and officially recognized by UNIMA International at the World Congress in Bali, Indonesia in 2023, the UNIMA Burundi National Center was born from the desire of young Burundian artists passionate about culture, curious about new artistic languages and convinced that puppetry can play a key role in the process of reconciliation, civic education and cultural development in Burundi.
It is now one of more than 80 National Centres spread throughout the world within the International Puppetry Union (UNIMA), a non-governmental organisation founded in 1929 and granted consultative status with UNESCO since 1960.
UNIMA works to promote the art of puppetry in all its forms as a tool for culture, education and dialogue between peoples, while respecting fundamental human rights.
